What is YHBF?

The Yorkshire and Humber Biodiversity Forum is an association of organisations committed to supporting biodiversity through action for sustainable development and to promoting partnerships with regional and local agencies, organisations, industries and groups.

It aims to provide valuable advice and information on biodiversity issues and to establish close working relationships with key regional organisations.

Natural England and the YHBF have published 3 documents as part of a provisional audit of progress towards the Yorkshire & Humber Priority Habitat Biodiversity Targets, which form part of both the Yorkshire & Humber Biodiversity Strategy and the England Biodiversity Strategy.

About the Regional Biodiversity Strategy

The Yorkshire and Humber Region supports a remarkable wildlife heritage, including many habitats of international importance, however it is greatly reduced from what it once was. We have witnessed catastrophic losses of many habitats and species, for example hay meadows and wetlands, and there is an imperative for the conservation of the remaining resource, alongside the restoration of key habitats and connecting habitat networks.

The launch of the Regional Biodiversity Strategy is the culmination of a wide-ranging consultation process, which followed on from the regional conference ‘One Living Planet – one Planet Living’. It describes the region’s outstanding biodiversity and the key actions that are needed to conserve and enhance this resource. It also recognises the value of biodiversity to the region’s social and economic sectors and identifies those actions which are required jointly to enhance our region’s natural environment. The Strategy is a key document which compliments and implements the biodiversity elements of the Regional Spatial Strategy and its production is a key milestone for the region.

Our Mission

The Yorkshire & Humber Biodiversity Forum (YHBF) is the constituted regional body that supports biodiversity through action for sustainable development and promotes positive partnerships with regional and local agencies, organisations, individuals and groups.  It was founded in 1997 and is recognised by the UK Biodiversity Partnership and sponsoring Government departments.

You will need to make sure the cosmetology school you choose is preparing you for the licensing exam given in the state where you will be practicing.

Another thing to think about is the school’s job placement record and the assistance they provide in this area. A top notch cosmetology school will be able to demonstrate a high placement rate for its graduates. Because they stand behind the education they are providing you, they will assist in finding a position for you after graduation. If a school you are considering does not offer this, you may want to look into some others.

With such a competitive field, making the most of your education can only improve your odds of success. Ultimately, what you want is a school that will provide you with the skillset needed to showcase your creativity and indulge your passion on your way to a career in cosmetology.

The iPad Just Got Better

There is a new product on the market for all of us iPad users out there: an iPad wall mounting. This idea seems so simple that it is almost brilliant! I love my iPad for home use and travel, but with a mount I predict these will be showing up in business more and more.

Although the mount is not sold by Apple, I am sure they wish they had come up with this simple and affordable concept.

 The design of the mount on the business version creates a frame that secures your iPad. A special Allen key is needed to open the frame, allowing display without the worry of theft. The business version also blocks access to the home button to prevent users from switching the display

The personal version leaves the home button open for navigation, and has a simple hand screw for quick removal and return. By placing a few mounts in the home, recipes can be viewed in the kitchen or cartoons could be shown in the nursery without worry of damage.

I think it is business that will pick this up immediately. There are so many applications available for iPad now, that adding a secure display can only expand IPad’s function in business.

Imagine the conference room displaying the time, participants, and information for your next meeting.  Check in can be verified immediately on the iPad as you enter. 

Upper management could be informed of suggestions or problems by securing one in the break room. 

Mounted in a store, the iPad can inform customers of today’s sale items, or serve as customer service by providing online surveys and comments. As a marketing tool, business can mount multiple iPads in a mall to either direct traffic to a specific business or capture survey data for future products.

A doctor’s office could use the iPad for patient check in, or feedback. Mounted and secure an iPad may  replace magazines with e-magazines, or provide simple video games in a pediatrician’s office!

The sleek design of the iPad and mount is unobtrusive so they will fit in easily where another product might interfere with the design aesthetic. The iPad was a great invention; this new mount makes it even better!
